Review: Make up revolution cream blush in Frambroise Shake

Hi Beauts.

I think by now everyone has heard and discovered the newest brand to hit the market and that is Make Up Revolution.
If you haven't heard about them (where have you been??) Basically they are an inexpensive make up company who sell a vast array of products ranging from lipsticks, blushes, eyeshadows, mascara, basically the whole shebang.

The best thing is, products start out for as little as £1.00....how great is that?! A little while ago I made an online order which I hauled here and I've loved everything I got, so today wanted to share a review of their cream blush in 'Frambroisse Shake'

I've mentioned before that I'm not one for cream blush as i have oily skin and find powder products work the best for me, but I wanted to try one out from Make Up Revolution and see how it would work. And oh so well it worked.

I applied my foundation first than dipped a stippling brush into the blush to pick up a small amount of product and gently and lightly dabbed it onto my cheeks, and let me tell you even doing this gave an amazing amount of pigmentation! It applied so smoothly and evenly, and was extremely easy to blend out.

Did it last on my annoyingly oily/combo skin? It sure did. I've been working long hours lately so it was the perfect way to test out how well this would last. I get up and ready at 5:30am each morning and don't get home until around 5pm sometimes later, and I have to say this didn't budge or fade at all!

The shade is the perfect pink for the summer and I think it will look pretty on all skin tones, I pretty much resemble casper right now and it still looks fab.

There are 4 shades to choose from and they retail for a very small price of £1.50, at a price like that I think I may have to get the other three too!

Have you tried these cream blushes? What's your favourite shade?

14 things for 2014

Hi Beauts.

Happy New Year!!!!

I've never been one for New Years resolutions because if I'm honest, I break them within a week. I don't like rules.......they're there to be broken :P
I do, however, like to make a list of things I'd like to accomplish in the new year. Just small things that matter to me, nothing too major and things I know that I can do.

So, my 14 things for 2014 are as follows:

1 - Start driving lessons. The thought actually terrifies me, but if I can drive then I can have more adventures!

2 - Go to Edinburgh zoo. Believe it or not, I've never been!!

3 - Get a job I actually love and enjoy. Since leaving school, I've basically started a new job to get out of the previous and hated every single one. Life is too short to do things that make you unhappy DONE

4 - Travel somewhere first class. This is something I've wanted to do for so long now, 2014 is the year to make it happen

5 - Learn an instrument. I used to play the guitar and recorder in primary school, but stopped when I went into secondary school. Music is a great thing, time to learn the drums.....or piano.....or triangle?

6 - Start my make up freelancing. I completed a make up course in 2011, with every intention of becomming a freelance MUA. However I have a habit of telling myself I'm pants at things and knocked my own confidence. Time to get back on that horse *Yeeeeehaaaaa*

7 - Take a midnight swim (and try not to get arrested) in a bikini obviously! Such a random thing to add, but I'm a pretty random person

8 - Have at least 2 holidays abroad. My cousin and I are going to Paris at the end of the month for my Birthday and are planning on doing a Europe trip later on in the year

9 - Adopt an animal. If I had the money, I'd have an animal sanctuary but I'm skint so I shall settle for adopting a tiger or donkey or elephant?

10 - Try new food and drinks. Every time I go to bars/resturants/coffee shops I order the same things. Time to tickle those taste buds

11 - Go to a festival. There's talk of the Leeds festival this year, more camping in a field full of strangers.......fun times!!!!

12 - Give YouTube a bash. I'm not sure what kinds of videos I want to do yet, but I might try my hand at vlogging whilst in Paris.....if I can figure out how to edit.....

13 - Say yes to more things. Again, I'm one (not so much now) for talking myself out of things and then always think I should have said yes. So this tear, there shall be no no's ;)

14 - Start swimming at least twice a week. All throughout 2013 I've eaten pretty healthy - cutting out junk food and fizzy drinks, so this year I want to start regular exercise. I HATE the gym because I get so bored, so I've decided to start swimming again. Let's get toned!!

Do you make a list? Or are you one for making resolutions?

You can find me on http://peacelovemakeupp.tumblr.com/ too :)

I've been MIA

Hi Beauts.

Long time no blogging!

I just wanted to post a quick little update today to let you know that yes I'm still alive and, yes I'm still (trying) to blog.

Basically I started a new job a month ago which meant I went from working part time to full time. Working part time meant I had quite a lot of spare time, which in turn meant that I could write a bunch of posts and have a tonne drafted for the week ahead.

Now, however, I've been working non stop and literally don't have a lot of time to well, do anything really!
I absolutely LOVE my job and love that I finally have something full time, however until I get myself into a little routine everything life wise has taken a bit of a backseat.

I'm going to try and take a few hours on my day off (those are very rare right now but I don't mind) and draft up a few posts ready to upload on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday and maybe a Saturday/Sunday.

I love writing my blog, I find it really enjoyable and don't want to not write it so I shall plod along and try to stick to my little plan of action as best I can.

Hope you're all well, have a fab weekend Beauts!

Fab Five Favourites

Hi Beauts.

I wanted to do something a little different today, and share with you all my Fab Five Favourites. I'll still be posting my monthly favourites every month, but thought this might be a good way to share what I've been loving during the week. This week, I'm going to rave about my five favourite face products...There's a lot of F's flying about this post isn't there?!

1 - B. Flawless complete coverage Foundation in 'linen' I'd ran out of my foundation so was on the hunt for a new one to try out. I'd loved the lip crayons from the brand B. so figured I'd try out one of their foundations. The coverage of this is pretty good and it works well with my oily skin, however even the lightest shade is a little too dark. Which brings me to item number 2.

2 - NYC all day long foundation in 'classic ivory' I've tried this before amd loved the finish and staying power however the lightest shade is too light for me. Mixed with the foundation from B. and the two combined give the best cover, finish, staying power and the shade matches me perfectly.

3 - B. Sheer finish Pressed powder in 'light' - Again, I'd ran out of my powder so needed to pick up a new one and this one was on offer in Superdrug so I thought, why not? It's a pretty yellow based foundation which I love as I wanted to tone down some of the warmth from the B.foundation. It doesn't add too much coverage but it does leave me matte and keeps my foundation on throughout the day. I love that it comes with a mirror too, very handy

4 - elf blush in 'blushing rose' - I've been trying to use more of my blushes because I've tended to stick to one or two the past few weeks. I'm not sure why I stopped using this little gem, it's the perfect berry shade which is my favourite shade to wear (no matter what the season is) it's highly pigmented too and stays put all day long.

5 - The Balm Mary-Lou Maniser - This is probably my all time favourite highlighter if I'm honest. It's         shimmery but not over the top and it gives the most gorgeous highlight to cheekbones. It's neutral toned too which is a must for me. This little beauty can also be used as an eyeshadow, browbone highlight and inner tear duct highlight too!

What are your current favourite face products?

Make up revolution haul

Hi Beauts.

It's been so long since I last posted, ok it's been 4 days but that is a long time for me as I like to post every other day. I started a new job a couple of weeks ago and literally haven't had any spare time to blog.
I did, however, have time to place a wee little order with a new brand called 'Make Up Revolution' and wanted to share with you all what I bought.
This brand is pretty new, and is in the same price range as MUA (we all know how much I love me some MUA) and the range of products is amazing.
Without rambling anymore, on with the haul:

* Redemption palette iconic 3  £4.00 - This was the first item to hit my basket. It's supposed to be an exact dupe for the Urban Decay naked 3 which I've wanted for a while but never bought, looking at swatches it looks the exact same

* Mono eyeshadow in Insomnia £1.00 - I love purple eyeshadow and this looked so pretty

* Baked mono eyeshadow in Celestial £1.50 - Again I love greens and couldn't resist this beauty (I've already used this and it's a BEAUT!)

* Liquid eyeliner in Black £1.50 - I'm a little obsessed with eyeliner, and have to try a new one out whenever I make an order with a new brand

* Cream blush in Frambroise Shake £1.50 - I really like the MUA cream blush and wanted to see if I'd like this one too, plus it's such a pretty shade

* Lipstick in Enchant £1.00 - Who can pass up a £1.00 lipstick? Certainly not me. This shade looks perfect for spring and summer

Well that's it for this haul, I already know that come pay day I'll be placing another order. I've swatched everything I have and absolutely love it all!

Have you bought anything from Make up Revolution yet?

MUA Intense kisses in 'sealed with a kiss'

Hi Beauts.

If I could only have three make up products in my collection, they'd have to be concealer, mascara and lipgloss.
I have an overflowing drawer as it is, but I just couldn't resist adding one more gloss to my collection. A while back Ms Budget Beauty did a make up look using MUA products, and one of said products was their intense kisses in 'sealed with a kiss'

As soon as she applied it I knew I had to have it because it looked to me, like the perfect nude shade. However whenever I looked in store it was always sold out, so this just made me lust after it even more. After FINALLY getting my mitts on it, I've literally worn it every day and it has fast become my favourite go to lip product.

Unlike other lip glosses I own, this one is super pigmented, very opaque and really glossy without being sticky.
I thing the shade is a teeny bit pink toned which I never usually go for, but it's a nude that I can definitely get away with.

As I mentioned, it's very pigmented so the colour payoff is incredible. In fact, I'd put this somewhere in between a lipstick and a lipgloss - the intensity of a lipstick and the formular and finish of a gloss. Application is so smooth, it applies just like butter, and the high opaqueness means that you only need to alley one coat and you're rocking the perfect nude lip.

I'd say I got around 3 to 4 hours wear out of this which I think is incredible for a gloss, usually I get around half an hour and I find myself needing to reapply.
I'm so impressed with this, I think more shades may need to be added to my collection.....well, a girl can never have too many lip products, right?!

Have you tried these? What's your favourite shade?

Nspa oil free moisture gel

Hi Beauts.

I don't think I need to mention how much I'm obsessed with the brand Nspa. I love their face products and their shower gels, and can't be without them.

The newest item to make it to my favourites is their oil free moisture gel.

I've tried many moisturisers over the years that are aimed at combatting or controlling oily skin, and although I have liked some, it's difficult to find any that work and that are cruelty free.
I picked up this moisture gel from asda a little while back whilst they had a 3 for £10.00 offer on, and have been using and loving it for the past 3 weeks.

I'd say this is a lightweight liquid based formula so is perfect as a base for foundation. I use two pumps for my whole face each morning, and it definitely keeps any excess oil at bay throughout the day. Like I mentioned earlier, this a great make up base. My skin is left really soft which helps my make up glide on and look flawless. I also love that this comes with a pump, as this allows me to control the amount of product I use.

The product is a pink colour, however once applied to the skin it is transparent. It also has a slight scent to it but it isn't overpowering, it's more of a fresh scent that a lot of the Nspa products smell like.
Something that sold me big time was how fast this absorbed into my skin. Getting up at 5:30 each morning means I don't have all that much time to get ready, so this is perfect. I apply this, brush my teeth and by the time that's done, I'm ready to apply my foundation.

All in all, if you have oily skin I'd absolutely recommend giving this a whirl. I promise you won't regret it.

My favourite transition shades

Hi Beauts.

Rather than a review or haul post, today I wanted to share with you all my favourite transition eyeshadow shades.

If you're unsure what a transition shade is (which I'm sure you all already know) it is a shadow that is added to the crease of your eye to soften an eye look, warm up said eye look or/and to help blend out any shadows that you are using.
I never really used transition shades until a few months ago, and since using them I've found doing my eye make up so much easier. Over the months I've discoverd some amazing shades to use that work perfectly for my skintone, and wanted to share my finds with you.

Without further ado, here we go:

* Shade 3 from the MUA 'Undressed' paltte - This is a light neutral brown

* Pink T from Soap and Glory's 'What's nude' quad - This is slightly warmer toned than Sade 3 from the MUA palette but works just as great

* Fade from MUA 'ever after' matte palette - Again a light neutral shadow

* The contour shade from Sleeks 'Light' contour kit - Although this is a contour for the cheeks, it works amazing as a transition shade for the eyes

* The orange toned shade from MUA's eyebrow kit - Although this is an orange, it works so well as a warm transion colour and looks great with a brown eye look

All of the shades I've mentioned above are matte, which is find works better for transition - we don't want to look like a glitter fairy socked us in the face do we?!

The best wat to apply this to your crease is using a medium sized fluffy crease brush. My favourite to use, and the best and only one I use, is the C200 from Crown Brush. It's the perfect size for the crease and pretty much does all of the work for you.

What are your favourite shades and brushes for adding a transition colour to your eyes?

Beauty UK simply define eyebrow pencil

Hi Beauts.

Ever since MUA brought out their eyebrow kit, I've been pretty much converted to powder to fill in my brows.
However, I'm literally scraping the sides right now to get the last of the product out and so I thought why not try out a pencil from a different brand?

I haven't tried anything from the brand Beauty UK before, but always hear great things about them so decided whilst in Superdrug I'd pick up their eyebrow pencil in 'Dark brown'

I have tried eyebrow pencils in the past, some I loved and some not so much. The thing that sells it for me is the consistency of the product. If it's too soft it just smudges everywhere which is not cute, and if it's too hard it takes forever to fill in my brows, not to mention having to drag the pencil which isn't good for keeping premature wrinkles at bay.

This pencil stole my heart literally straight away due to the fact that it has the perfect consistency. It's soft enough to allow easy and pigmented application, and hard enough so that it won't smudge everywhere.
As I already mentioned I picked mine up in 'dark brown' and it suits my brow and hair colour great.

There's a little brush attached to the the lid too which comes in handy - especially if you're like me and always misplace everything. I usually brush through my brows after applying the powder to make them look a little more natural and to blend the pencil in.

All in all, this baby is a winner! For £1.99 you get 1.2g of product, and there are four shades available

What are your must haves from Beauty UK?

P.S Love 8 shade day eyeshadow palette

Hi Beauts.

Today I wanted to review something that I've been using pretty much every day since I hauled it, and that is the P.S Love day eyeshadow palette from Primark.

I started a new job not too long ago, and getting up at 5:30 am each morning means that A) I'm still half asleep and B) I need a quick and easy go to make up look, which is where this little beauty comes in.

This palette consists of 8 eyeshadows: 3 browns, 3 greys, a pink and a white. The browns and white are the shades I gravitate towards on a daily basis, but have used the 3 greys for a smokey evening look and loved them. Each shade is highly pigmented and blends like a dream, and the thing I look for in any eyeshadow is that they're all neutral toned.

There are 2 straight out mattes: the pink and the darkest brown, the white, lightest grey and medium brown seem to have a slight sheen to them and the medium grey, dark grey and lightest brown are a frosty finish

Top row
Bottom row

The palette also comes with a large mirror which makes this great for travelling too. Even though this is called the 'Day palette' I definitely think it's versatile and can be used to create a subtle and strong smokey eye, using the greys and the browns.

The only shadow that I noticed any fall out from was the first shade, however it was only a small amount and nothing that couldn't be swept away with a clean fluffy brush

I've used and love each shade from this palette, but I have to say that I think my favourite is the white. It's the perfect brow bone highlight (for me anyway) and it's the only shadow I use for highlighting now.

This fast became my favourite go to palette

Have you tried out any of the Primark make up?

B. Vibrant Lip and cheek colour crayons

Hi Beauts.

Around two months ago I won a competition on Instagram with B. and Superdrug, where I won the B. Vibrant lip and cheek colour crayons.
I haven't tried anything from their make up range before, but I do use their micellar water on a daily basis (I have a full review here) and I love it.

There are five shades in the lip and cheek colour collection from a pinky mauve to a vibrant red.

Each crayon is packaged in a sturdy grey tube (very sleek if you ask me) with a silver twisty end that allows you to get more product rather than having to search for a pencil sharpener and lastly, the name of each shade is placed on a colour coordinated sticker on the bottom of each crayon.

I found each shade to be extremely pigmented, smooth and creamy to apply and they all have a pretty glossy finish.
I haven't tried any out as a cheek product as I don't think I'm daring enough for the brighter shades, but they did seem to blend out great on the back of my hand, however as a lip product I love them.

As I mentioned earlier, these are highly pigmented and extremely long lasting. I'd say I got around 3 to 4 hours wear and don't find them at all drying on my lips throughout the day. The brighter shades, mainly 'Orient' did seem to stain my lips a little more than the others (not a bad thing may I add)

The lighting seemed to change every time I swatched for some reason

All in all I'm so impressed with these and can't wait to sport the brighter ones in the summer. I think out of them all, my favourite two have to be 'Prom' and ' Goji' which are the more wearable of the five.

These retail for £6.99 and can be found on the B. stand in most Superdrug's.

Have you tried anything from the brand?

MUA Ever after matte palette review

Hi Beauts.

I think that I mention in every MUA review or post I write that I'm a massive fan of the brand. And once again those words shall leave my lips, I can't think of one product that I've tried and not liked.

They seem to bring out new products quite often and one thing that is pretty new is their 'Ever after' matte eyeshadow palette.

Now, it's not very often that a high street brand (of high end for that matter) bring out matte eye-shadow's, let alone a palette filled with them. So imagine my delight when I heard about MUA releasing a 10 pan neutrals one.

The shadows in this are as follows:

Unwrap - A cream highlight
Butter - A pale yellow toned highlight
Bare - A neutral light beige
Taffeta - A warmer beige
Fade - A neutral tan which is perfect as a transition shade
Penny - A medium brown
China - A taupe kind of shade
Truffle - A dark neutral brown
Fog - A blue toned medium grey
Smoke - A black

The thing I noticed whilst swatching this was that some shades appeared more pigmented than others, obviously the darker shades were easier to swatch than the lighter. However, applied to the eye they were much more pigmented than on the back of my hand.

I've watched a few reviews on youtube and people have said that they had trouble blending out some of the shades. I think that a lot of matte shadows, no matter what the brand, can take a little more effort to blend out than shimmer. However, I didn't find this palette to be any more difficult than others I've used.

Is this palette worth purchasing? I'd say so! I've used this literally every day since I bought it and I absolutely love it. You can create so many looks just using this, from day to night, and from subtle to smokey.
There's a shadow to suit everyone, and the main thing I love is that all the shades are pretty neutral so it doesn't matter if you're warm or cool toned.

Now all we need is a MUA dupe for the Naked 3 palette......hint hint ;)

Are you a fan of MUA too?
